Fire crews free trapped Costa customer

By Paul Johnston at

Fire crews had to be called to free an elderly woman who became stuck in the toilet at Costa Coffee in West Kirby.

The incident happened in the middle of the afternoon on Sunday 30 December when the lady became trapped after going to use the lavatory at the shop on Grange Road.

A witness told West Kirby Today that attempts to open the door proved unsuccessful and firefighters were called.

Mersey Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed they attended and used a hydraulic door opener to force a defective lock.

The spokeswoman added: “Crews were on the scene for 10 minutes and one person who had been trapped was released unharmed.”
