A new Italian restaurant is to open on the site of the former Hilbre Pub in West Kirby.
Building work has been underway for several months at the pub after its shock closure last September.
Recruitment has now begun for the new Est Ristorante & Bar, which is described as a local, neighbourhood Italian restaurant.
In December, the pub was registered as an Asset of Community Value after local campaigners, backed by Margaret Greenwood MP, raised concerns over its future. The decision should have protected the pub from demolition or change of use.
The Friends of Hilbre Court Pub said they were disappointed with the latest news about the future of the pub, which had been a meeting place for local members of the RNLI and also staged a number of charity events throughout the year too.
